I live in a very small town, and I've pretty much entirely ruled out finding other game developers in my area. The logical next step would be online, but I have no clue where to even start. Are there any good discord servers or forums where I could find people with similar interests to my own? It would be nice to be able to bounce ideas off of each other and learn off of each other.

The only major problem with doing that in the first place is that I'm an anxious mess. I don't know if I could even bear to show any code I've written out of sheer embarrassment considering I haven't even been developing for a year yet. I guess I won't really know until I try, but everyone that I am friends with or talk to has no clue what I'm saying when I try to talk about game dev and it has made me feel a little lonely and like I need a sense of community.
